Proposition Positions on 2020 Ballot

The Lodi District Chamber of Commerce, along with approximately 50 other Chambers statewide, advocate legislatively for our members at a local, county, state and nationwide level. This past week, the Chamber has interviewed candidates running for Lodi City Council, State Assembly, Congressional Representative, LUSD School Board, Delta Board of Trustees, and County Supervisors. In addition to endorsing candidates, we lobby with the assistance and guidance of the California Chamber of Commerce to fight erroneous bills that would have a negative (or even detrimental) impact on business. Below you can read the Propositions on the 2020 Ballot, along with the Lodi Chamber of Commerce's position on them. 

Proposition 14- Issues $5.5 billion in bonds for state stem cell research institute. VOTE NO on Prop 14

Proposition 15 - Split Role Tax that would levy $12.5 billion onto businesses for increased property taxes. These are businesses, commercial and industrial properties, as well as tangible PERSONAL property over $500,000 in value. VOTE NO on Prop 15

Proposition 16 - Allows diversity as a factor in public employment, education, and contracting decisions. VOTE YES on Prop 16

Proposition 17- Restores the right to vote to convicted felons who have completed their prison term. VOTE NO on Prop 17

Proposition 18 - Permits some 17 year olds to vote in primary and special elections if they will bee 18 before the next general election. VOTE NO on Prop 18

Proposition 19 - Allows homeowners who are over 55, disabled, or disaster victims to transfer primary residence's tax base to replacement residence. VOTE YES on Prop 19

Proposition 20 - Authorizes felony sentences for certain offenses currently treated as misdemeanors and restricts parole for certain offenses. VOTE YES on Prop 20

Proposition 21 - Expands governments' authority to enact rent control on residential property. VOTE NO on Prop 21

Proposition 22 - Changes employment classification for app-based transportation and delivery drivers (allows them to remain contractors). Vote YES on Prop 22

Proposition 23 - Establishes state requirements for Kidney Dialysis Clinics, which increased costs would be passed onto everyone in terms of higher insurance premiums. VOTE NO on Prop 23

Proposition 24 - Amends consumer privacy laws that will triple fines for businesses on all violations and breeches. VOTE NO on Prop 24

Proposition 25 - Replaces money bail with a computer-based profiling system based on public safety and flight risk for defendants. VOTE NO on Prop 25
