Message from the President & CEO

Message from the President & CEO

We are in the need of a few more volunteers to join our Endorsement Interview Panels next week. As most of you know, the Lodi District Chamber of Commerce advocates politically for our members at the state, county, and local level. Part of that advocacy is interviewing potential candidates for County Board of Supervisors, Lodi City Council, Lodi Unified School District, Delta Board of Trustees, State Assembly, and Congressional Representative to ensure that the candidate we endorse have businesses' interests at heart. Especially in a year as tumultuous as 2020, it is critically important to work and partner with our elected officials to make sure Lodi continues to GROW. The interview panels take place via Zoom (and the comfort of your office or home) Monday, September 21- Thursday, September 24 5PM - 8PM. If you are interested in sitting on this panel, please email Pat Patrick at PPatrick@LodiChamber.com.

In other news, small businesses should be aware that SB 1383 could possibly go into effect January 1, 2021. This new legislation expands the California Family Rights Act to include small businesses with five or more employees- this is a huge change compared to the old standard of 50 or more employees. The best advice on the changing law we can give is to listen to this episode of CalChamber's The Workplace podcast. CalChamber Executive VP and General Counsel Erika Frank and CalChamber Policy Advocate Ashley Hoffman offer thorough insight. Click here to listen and learn more about SB 1383.
